WHO ARE WE?

We’re THR333 (The Hardship Reveal 333) — a six-piece American rock band born in the heart of Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2024. Our name represents the core of our identity: revealing life’s hardships through raw, emotional, and high-energy music.

Our band consists of six uniquely talented and multi-faceted musicians, each bringing a distinct skill set and sonic perspective:

  • Matthew Beachy – lead vocals, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drums, producer, and engineer

  • Jalen Washington – lead guitar, bass, drums, backing vocals, and producer

  • Jojo Naya – drums and backing vocals

  • Maxwell Fink – keyboards, backing vocals, producer, and audio engineer

  • Samantha Olson – bass guitar, producer, and engineer

  • Marcella Kile – orchestral string composer

Our sound is a bold fusion of early 2000s pop-punk and late ’80s arena rock — think high-octane punk rhythms, melodic pop hooks, and dramatic new wave-style solos. Lyrically, we delve deep into themes of emotional resilience: mental health, heartbreak, identity, personal growth, and the struggles of modern life.

Building Momentum

By October 2nd, Jalen brought in his cousin — a skilled videographer now known as Studio The Man — who helped us shoot an acoustic bonfire rendition of “The Hell Song” by Sum 41. It was the second installment in our series showcasing the beauty and grit of Minnesota.

Soon after, violinist Ella Kile joined the mix. We arranged a new version of “The Hell Song” featuring orchestral strings in place of the lead guitar. On October 10th, we filmed the performance at the historic Minnesota State Capitol, blending classical instrumentation with punk spirit against a powerful visual backdrop of Minnesota’s architecture and fall landscape.

A Minnesota Christmas

December brought our first holiday release: “I Won’t Be Home for Christmas,” a nostalgic punk-rock track about feeling disconnected during the holidays. It also marked our first collaboration with Maxwell Fink, a longtime friend and former label mate of Matthew. Max added haunting keyboard textures and a sweeping, Christmas-inspired solo that gave the track emotional depth.

The video was filmed back at the lake where we started — now frozen and blanketed in snow. We finished the shoot and final mix at Max’s home studio, combining the cold, barren visuals with the warmth of creative collaboration.

Where We Are Now

As of May 2025, we’re expanding fast. We’ve entered multiple music competitions — including the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands — with our sights set on performing at Vans Warped Tour 2025.

This is more than just a band. It’s a movement, a story in progress, and a celebration of perseverance through creativity. Every video we shoot, every chord we play, and every lyric we write is part of our mission to connect — not just with fans across the U.S., but with anyone who’s ever felt unheard, unseen, or underestimated.

Our Origin

Origins: How It All Began

THR333 was officially born on September 11, 2024, when Jalen and Matthew began collaborating on cover songs and filming DIY videos. That very next day, we shot our debut video — a cover of “Self Esteem” by The Offspring — on a lake near Brainerd, MN. We brought a full drum kit and two massive 2.5-foot PA speakers onto a small Bowrider boat. It was cold, chaotic, and completely unforgettable.

During that shoot, Matthew introduced Samantha Olson to Jalen, asking if she could help film. Not only did she deliver — she instantly became a key part of our creative engine. We edited and uploaded the video that very day. Just six hours later, The Offspring themselves commented on it. That moment gave us the clarity and confidence we needed to go all in.

Launching Our Originals

In early November, we released our debut original single, “Stupid Cupid.” Without a permanent drummer, Matthew and Jalen traded roles mid-song — a nod to our versatility and DIY ethic. We filmed the video on the rooftop of International Market Square, capturing the skyline of Minneapolis as a visual metaphor for our ambitions.

Shortly after, we revisited “BURRRNETTE,” a song Matthew originally wrote as a pre-teen in 2012. We transformed it into a full-band track and filmed the video at The Parkway Theater, an iconic 90-year-old venue in the Twin Cities. Inspired by Blink-182, Guns N’ Roses, and Nirvana, the video channeled early-2000s punk vibes with raw, gritty visuals. This shoot also marked the debut of Jojo Naya, who joined as our full-time drummer — completing our core lineup.

Around the same time, Mad House Media partnered with us on production, giving our work a major boost in quality and reach.

Blowing Up

On December 15th, just a week after the holiday single, we dropped “My Hero” — the final single before our full-length debut. By this point, our YouTube numbers were climbing fast:

  • “Stupid Cupid” surpassed 210,000 views

  • “BURRRNETTE” exceeded 239,000

  • “I Won’t Be Home for Christmas” crossed 120,000

On January 18th, 2025, we officially released our debut album:

“High School Never Ends” (10 tracks)

That same day, our total YouTube views passed 1 million, thanks in large part to the lyric video for “My Hero.” We’ve since dropped videos and visual content for the rest of the album’s standout tracks:

  • “I Know a Girl”

  • “High School Never Ends” (title track)

  • “Melody”

  • “Crush Sota, Anthem”

  • “SOF333A”

  • “iCarly”

Each track reflects a different chapter of our collective story — from angsty teenage years to reflections on fame, love, and self-doubt.
